Tekkoshocon

This past weekend we attended Tekkoshocon which is an anime convention in Pittsburgh, PA. Its our home town convention and I have been going here since the 2nd Tekko in 2004. I guess you can say its my 10 year Tekkoversary. Let me give you a little back story of my history with Tekko.

I started out being a volunteer that year back in 2004. It wasn’t my first con but it was the first convention that I wanted to do something and help with. I was there and racked up so many volunteer hours and in the end they asked if I wanted a reimbursement of my admission but I turned it down and told them to keep it as a donation. I was then asked to join staff for the next year.

So we roll onto my second year 2005. I ended up finding a staff home under the video game department lead by Bayani. At that point and time we sold Bawls and a lot of it. We always ran out Saturday night and the Tekko has no Bawls jokes started. By the end of the convention we would have so many bottles that we started getting creative.

In 2008 I switched over to the Cosplay department. I stayed doing that for a while and ended up judging at a few conventions up and down the coast the next few years. It was really amazing to meet new people see tons of cosplays and you wouldn’t think it but you learn a lot while judging. People come up with the most creative ideas in making things. I since then have been part of the Cosplay department in some form or another.

Through the years Tekko has changed like all cons but I feel like this year Tekko went back to its roots and things felt like the old Tekko again and it was a really wonderful and amazing convention.
