Last years anime convention season ended for us with Anime USA in Arlington Virginia. We decided to be volunteers for it and that just added to our convention experience. We helped out with the security department and volunteered when we were available. There was so many interesting panels including the ever popular “How to be a dirty old man.” There I got advice from two ninjas on how to properly knee a guy in his stomach and hurt him. That was fun. Along with the panels and events there were a lot of amazing cosplays and rave outfits, it was almost like beauty overload.
As part of the security department, I got to be the line leader, basically the person holding a sign that says “Line Starts Here” for various events and voice actor signings. I also patrolled one of the floors to make sure no fights broke out or that people weren’t doing anything they were not supposed to be. I got to talk to so many anime fans while they waited in line, one girl was so excited about the convention, it was her first time at Anime USA and she just was so giddy. Both concerts were entertaining and I admit Matenrou Opera has become one of my favorite J-Rock bands. I understand why some of the girls were crying at the thought of seeing them live. I was also able to meet and talk to J. Michael Tatum (Black Butler: Sebastian), Monica Rial (Soul Eater: Tsubaki), and Micah Soulsod (Soul Eater: Soul). I admit I was so starstruck with Micah, he’s so cute!
